Boko Haram Kills 24 At Funeral In Adamawa Village



Boko Haram insurgents on Thursday night attacked Kuda-Kaya village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa state, killing 24 persons during a wake-keep service.

One resident, Abdul Ibrahim, who spoke to our correspondent on Friday morning, said the insurgents came in their hundreds at about 10pm on Thursday shooting indiscriminately.

Apart from the dead, 10 persons also sustained various degrees of injuries during the attack.According to Ibrahim, 18 corpses were discovered on Thursday night after the insurgents had left the village while the remaining six corpses were extracted from the surrounding bushes on Friday morning.

He lamented that the majority of the persons killed were women and children, adding that those injured were rushed to Gulak Cottage Hospital for treatment – three kilometers away from the village.

Another resident, Jacob Gulak, said that more corpses might be retrieved from the bushes as search was still ongoing as of when our correspondent spoke with him on the telephone.

“They stormed our village on motorcycles and immediately opened fire on the people observing the wake keep.

“As of the last count, 18 people were killed while about 10 others were injured and were rushed to a health facility in Gulak,” he said.

Confirming the incident, the member representing Michika/Madagali Federal Constituency, Adamu Kamale, said the number of casualties as of the time of filing this report could not be ascertained but that many members of the community were feared killed.

Also confirming the attack, the Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Othman Abubakar, said “so far 18 people have been killed in the attack but the number of the casualties could not be ascertained.”

In a similar development, one of the kingpins of Boko Haram, whose picture is on the wanted list of the military, had been arrested in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.

While confirming the arrest, Abubakar said the suspect was being interrogated at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department.
